Abbott announce state-of-the-art facility in Kilkenny, Ireland.
Abbott have announced the opening of a cutting-edge, 323,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, Ireland, dedicated to producing sensors for the FreeStyle Libre 3. The new facility will employ more than 800 people.
The launch was attended by Ireland’s An Taoiseach (Prime Minister), Simon Harris. Abbott have a strong base in Ireland, where they have operated for nearly 80 years and are among the country's largest employers.
Speaking at the launch, Robert Ford, Abbott’s Chairman and CEO said:
“Our new Kilkenny facility is a testament to Abbott’s dedication to advancing innovative care and supporting people with diabetes in living healthier lives,” Ford said. “This state-of-the-art site will have the highest production capacity for Libre sensors globally, ensuring we can meet the increasing demand for our FreeStyle Libre systems.”
