With World Diabetes Day 2024 approaching, find out about this year's focus on well-being.
World Diabetes Day is held annually on 14th November as recognition of the discovery of insulin on this date. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) have announced that this year's focus will be on well-being and they encourage everyone involved in the diabetes community to join in activities for the day to raise awareness.
World Diabetes Day is a global occasion for people with diabetes, healthcare professionals, advocates, policymakers and the public to unite to raise awareness of and take action on diabetes.

As part of World Diabetes celebrations this year, Diabetes Ireland will be kicking off events with itsDiabetes Health Awareness Exhibition taking place in the Riu Plaza The Gresham Hotel, O’Connell Street, Dublin 1 from 12 noon to 4.30pm on Sunday 10th November.
This free event will provide an array of attractions for the public such asBlood Pressure checks, Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessments, Weight and Waist Circumference assessments and CPR Introduction sessionsalong with a range of education workshops for people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes that will run throughout the day.
There will also be a wide range of companies exhibiting on the day, showcasing the latest medical technology along with a broad range of healthy living stands and other diabetes related services and professionals in attendance to answer queries from attendees.

• Museum's 40th anniversary
Evening activities will include:
• museum open house
• opening of our newest exhibit: “Forty for Forty”
• the unveiling of the newly-installed commemorative bricks in
the Global Garden
• the reading of “Dear Dr. Banting” letters left at the museum
• diabetes-friendly birthday cupcakes and hot chocolate
• exhibitors TBD
