Welcome to the Autumn edition of Libre Life, keeping you in the loop with the latest CGM, medtech and diabetes news.

In 2026, several medtech companies have been restructuring their businesses, with some looking towards the bigger and potentially more lucrative healthcare market. Most recently, Novo Nordisk has rebranded as Novo. MiniMed has completed its spin-off from Medtronic, Ypsomed has sold its diabetes care business, and Abbott plans to separate its nutrition business. Not forgetting Dexcom's earlier $75 million investment in Oura smart rings.

It can seem that diabetes management is no longer the sole priority for some medtech companies, while the quest for a cure also raises questions about commercial interests versus the needs of the diabetes community. With Diabetes UK committing just 6 1/2p per £1 to new research in 2025 attention turns to its £50 million arrangement with the Steve Morgan Foundation. So far, there's been surprisingly little scrutiny of this substantial "gift", but our investigation into the background of its billionaire founder and the funding arrangements makes particularly illuminating reading. It's our lead article, What Diabetes UK doesn't make clear about the £50 million for a cure.

We also have exciting news of a new "British" CGM. Read about how New British CGM Sava aims to challenge FreeStyle Libre and Dexcom.

That's just a few snippets and we hope you'll get involved with our poll as well as enjoy reading all the updates.
