NEW OMNIPOD 5 GETS US CLEARANCE

Today Medtech company Insulet announced it has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) for its Omnipod® 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System (Omnipod 5). Approval or the system covers individuals aged six years and older with type 1 diabetes.

LIBRE 3 LAUNCHES IN FRANCE

Libre 3 is now available to buy online in France https://www.freestylelibre.fr/libre/produits/applicationfreestylelibre3.html#
The app is currently on available for Android on Google store but is expected to be available for iPhones from the end of March.

LOWERING HBA1C

New data from the NHS shows that more T1s have reduced their HbA1C over the pandemic and the number with a result of less than 58mmol/mol (ie. less than 7.5%) is the greatest ever! Thanks, in part, to the use of Libre sensors.

LIBRE USE CONTINUES TO GROW

Use of Libre in the UK continues to grow as new data reveals that around 64% of T1s in England have access to Libre sensors on the NHS. Great news!

FIRST INJECTION OF INSULIN 100 YEARS AGO

The 11th January 2022, marked 100 years since the first injection of insulin into a human and the event was recognised in the UK by the Queen. Her letter, see above, refers to us - the diabetes community!

LIBRE 3 UPDATE
Abbott have revealed that Libre 3 won't be an automatic upgrade for users of Libre on NHS prescription. It will only be available on the NHS through hospital diabetes care teams.

NEW BIOWEARABLES BRAND LINGO
In another announcement, Abbott have confirmed that they are developing a range of biowearable products for consumers under the brand name Lingo.
The products will help users track key signals in their body such as glucose, ketones, and lactate and use these to better understand their general health and take appropriate action.
Abbott said its goal with Lingo is to expand glucose monitoring to people looking to manage their weight, sleep better, improve energy and think clearer.
