FreeStyle Libre 3 sensors to be replaced with Libre 3 Plus sensors.

Abbott have announced that the FreeStyle Libre 3 sensor is to be phased out in the UK by the end of 2025. Users of the Libre 3 will be moved onto the Libre 3 Plus.
The Libre 3 Plus is the same small size and shape as the Libre 3 but lasts 15 days. It is suitable for children from the age of two years and above, and for adults living with type 1 diabetes. There is no change to the app needed and the sensor will work with the Libre 3 reader too. There is also no change to the ability to use LibreLinkUp and LibreView.
The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus will be compatible with the mylife Loop automated insulin delivery system, which includes the mylife CamAPS® FX app and the mylife YpsoPump.
Abbott suggest that users speak to their healthcare team about the change at the next appointment so that prescriptions can be updated.
